I have found some RS1's on the internet. Though I would share this. http://www.discounttrainsonline.com/dto/item150-7145.html
OMG $120.00!!!! I paid $30.00 for a custom painted & weathered unit at the Rodgers,AR train show & this one had brass handrails & a brass fuel tank!!! I suggest ebay or flea markets. I really like it when you can find people who don't know whats, what. Keep searching for some deals I've lucked into everything I've got. Also never be afraid to try to talk some people down on over priced items. The worst that can happen is they tell you no then you just keep going about your bussiness. With this economy I'm suprised I can still collect my trains. Ship it on the Frisco!!! Murphy Millican
I wasn't interested in one. I was just sharing with the group for the people that were. ANd BTW it's $84
As I understand it... When the RS-1s were on the AT&N, they had friction bearing trucks. Sometime after coming to the Frisco they were converted to roller bearing trucks. The R/B trucks and extended stack are the basic Frisco features,
Not to hijack this thread, but when is the Rogers show? I'm close enough to get there without driving great distances. OK, we return you now to the thread about RS1s already in progress......
Early spring is all I know. I usually watch for it in Entertainment Fort Smith. I'd Check the local Papers for ad's My cousin works for the paper in Fayettville, AR and she will usually remind me. When ever I find the exact date I'll put it on this site. Ship it on the Frisco!!! Murphy Millican P.S. I'll be the 6'5'' high schooler with the Alma Letter Jacket on.
Back to RS1s........... I bought mine in 1988 or so when the first came out as an undec model. I later painted & decaled it for Frisco, and IMO it's the smoothest-running diesel in my HO fleet. If I get another RS1, I'll get the Atlas N scale offering in Frisco for my ArkLaTex Sub layout. Granted, I model in the 1970s, and the RS1s were all gone by then, but hey, it's my railroad......and my B/Y Baldwin VO1000 is lonely.......
Here's hoping I have a trip down that day. I'm in Rogers on business a few times a year, but I don't get to chose when.
