Anyone have ideas for the best model paint and color to represent the yellow in the original Frisco freight diesel black and yellow scheme?

    Thanks, Tom

    Howdy,

I recall reading someplace in an old FMIG newsletter, that the early yellow was lighter than the later yellow. This paint mixture is for the later. I have used this color for a very long time, compliments of Andy Haramantas, a terrific artist.

Floquil Paint for Frisco gold or dulux for F units

    • 5 parts reefer yellow
    • 3 parts reefer white
    • 2 parts box car red
    • 1 part roof brown

You can lighten or darken the color to your liking by modifying the amount of white and red.

    Best Regards,
    mike

    Tom -
On my sole B/G unit before the steam bug bit me, I was quite pleased with Scalecoat's CN Yellow, as far as matching the color of the decals.

Of course I overdid it on the weathering, so the match may not be as good as I think it is!

    Best Regards,

Thanks Chris and Mike--I think I'll have a look at the CN yellow--I haven't had much (any) luck mixing colors.

You bet! Let us know how it goes.

To me, yet another plus pro in my book for the steam era. I've not had much trouble with engine black! :)
