Look what I found on eBay.......pic of a maroon Frisco in Memphis 1970's. Ok, so I'd like to know the story of this color on that loco? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270458307273&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT later on ya'll ROLL TIDE ROLL DOWN THE HORNS Jason BHAM, AL
The photo has undergone a color shift, either from the original exposure or being exposed to a strong light source or by the ebay seller. We've seen enough photos of this engine to know it's true colors. This Kodak Moment brought to you by Glenn in Tulsa
Glen is correct, that is what happens to old color photos when they are exposed to too much light. Putting them in those old plastic paged photo albums causes the colors to fade like that also. Bob Wintle
"Ok, so I'd like to know the story of this color on that loco?" They're trying to tell you: There wasn't a maroon scheme for the Frisco GP35's... ever. Period. ALL the early orders of GP35's came in BLACK w/YELLOW striping. This fact is proven over and over and over again, both photographically and countless first hand witnesses accounts of the arrival of the 35's. Of course, whether you want to accept that or not, that's up to you. Shoot... if you want to go by a faded color photograph: I've got old color prints that PROVE some of the GP7's were painted PINK & PALE YELLOW.
