Okay... my S scale SW9 is getting the "Full Stripe" scheme. Already have one side finished. My photos show that #306 was still in the Full Stripe scheme as late as 1962-3.

Does ANYONE know (or have pics) of when #306 went into O&W... or did it? My target era is "Mid 60's"... I'd like to feel that I have portrayed it "reasonably accurate". I think it's "safe" to assume that it remained a Full Striper up until its advent of O&W, IF it got O&W.

    Anybody know?

    I don't know when it went O/W but I found a picture of 306 in O/W dated 6/9/1980 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1650500

I also found a picture of sister loco 310 in black and yellow strip paint dated 2/10/1978 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=117925 I am not sure if this is the right paint scheme or not.

I hope this helps just passing on what I found. Here is the link where I found them enjoy :)

Okay, one issue is settled... #306 went into O&W.

However, it is very doubtful it was one of the first few units painted by the Frisco into O&W. According to the Louis Marre/Don Harper "bible", we all know that O&W first hit in February of 1965 via U25B #802. By July of that same year, GP7 #571 had made it into O&W. Got a feeling the road/GP units were first to come under the paint gun.

I feel it is VERY doubtful that some of the first units painted were switchers, much less #306 in particular.

    THUS:

I "conclude" that it is "safe" have the #306 in the Full Stripe theme for the mid-sixties.

I have spoken! Let it be written (decaled)! Let it be done! :D
