Interlocking Tower Lindenwood Yard - 1940 July, 1940 Photographer Wm. Barham Looking toward Lindenwood Yard from the River Division.
3-way crossing between Frisco's Ft.Scott, KS.-Afton, OK., Pierce City, MO.-Wichita, K Rare 3-way crossing between Frisco's Ft.Scott, KS.-Afton, OK., Pierce City, MO.-Wichita, KS. lines and MKT. It was the only one in the US and parts for it had to be made in Europe. On display with caboose #1701 in a Columbus, KS. park.
Dimension data for the interlocker Here's a bit of dimension data for the interlocker and supporting structions. They are taken from an old Northern Div. B&B book.
I'm working on a history book on Monett, MO, which came into being because the Frisco switched from Pierce City to Monett in 1887. Some of the photos in this thread are really quite clear. Does anyone have any of Monett? The book will be published by Arcadia Publishing later this year. Thanks! Elaine
South Clinton MKT-KCCS Although not in its original location, this tower, which still stands in South Clinton, protected the KCCS/MKT crossing. The tower was manned by Katy personnel, and the structure is very similar to other MKT interlocking plants that were located at North Clinton (MKT-KCOS), Griffith(Ft Scott), KS (MKT-MP), and Greenville, TX (MKT-StLSW) to name a few. http://www.towers.txrrhistory.com/064/064.htm Begging Karl's forgiveness, I have added photos that I took of the South Clinton Tower on November 26, 2010. It is located in the back yard of a private residence approximately two blocks west of its original location.
Re: South Clinton MKT-KCCS Karl, I have tried to find this tower in both Katy and Frisco Timetables and I just can not find it's listing. It should be in the Eastern Division Clinton Subdivision at what Milepost, do you know? richard
Re: South Clinton MKT-KCCS Richard...the kccs/mkt interlocker would have been listed on the Osceola Sub. I am still in NYC and will get you more info later.
Re: South Clinton MKT-KCCS Richard, Concerning the South Clinton interlocking, Mike Good of the Henry County Library in Clinton has a great web site with loads of local railroad information. Please see the following links.
