    Good Afternoon Friends,

    I am hoping someone can assist with interpreting symbols on an industry schematic. Attached is the diagram for Severy, KS from our collection here on Frisco.org.

    I am trying to determine what the "T", "C", "S", "R", "D" are the diagram. I assume the "T" is for Tank or Tank Car, and maybe the "D" is dock, but am unsure as to the rest.

    Many thanks in advance for help.

    CONN = Connection
    R = Ramp
    DPT = Depot
    T = Tank
    ML = Main Line
    1-2-3 (etc) = Door spots.

    Unsure about "C" and "S".

    D = Dock
    C = Coal

    From Karl Brand 11/20/2011;

    D=Dock
    R=Ramp
    V=Ground Level Spot
    X=Open Spot, not limited by specific loading/unloading facility or device.
    O=Overhead Spot

    Since I know the Severy layout quite well as this is being modeled on my layout, let add what I know. T=Tanks and there were two dealers on that track. Spot 136 had a coal bin at one point. The part that shows s-s-s was a 3 bay open concrete bin structure for sand and gravel. Spot 146 was a team dock and ramp. Hope this helps,

    So I assume S = Sand

    According to the people I know, all unloading of the coal and sand/gravel was from gondolas and done by hand, no conveyors were used to unload.

    I have adjusted my interpretation of C for Coal.

    What fun that must have been, shoveling sand out of a gon.

    "X-X-X (numbers) = Door spots"

    Was made more clear by editing my statement to read:

    "1-2-3 (etc) = Door Spots"

    Also dumbly forgot to add:

    "D" = Dock

    Hey, thanks All.

    I will start a different thread for a related discussion of a Free-mo set of modules representing Severy.

    @Friscotony , I would be very thankful for input on the project and maybe photos of your representation Severy on your layout.

    Bob,

    One other note to add.

    Note industry 139, Severy Cooperative Association. Adjacent to and outside door spot 5 is an "O" (not to be confused with zero). The O is the designated symbol for an overhead spout.

    It may or may not be adjacent to a door spot location. The examples I have seen to date have been on the outside the rectangle representing the building parameter. However, suspect the symbol could be used at a location with an interior or covered loading track.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Okay, to sum up all of the abbreviation symbols on the Industry Schematics that I have checked:

    1 - 2 - 3 (or other numbers or letters) = Spots at doors
    C = Coal
    CONN = Connection or Connector
    D = Dock
    DPT = Depot
    ML = Mainline
    O = Overhead Spout
    P = Pole unloading (utility)
    R = Ramp
    S = Sand
    T = Tank
    V = Ground Level Spot
    X = Open Spot, not limited by specific loading/unloading facility or device
    ^^ = trestle type dump for hoppers (the carat characters may be overlapping each other)
    upload_2023-8-28_12-3-38.png = Ground Dump for hoppers
