    GP7 SLSF 590

GP7 SLSF 590 and two counter parts, the first of witch appears to be GP7 SLSF 581, are working in an unknown location, possibly somewhere in Kansas.

    Photographer unknown.

    Slide is dated August 1968.

Edit: Steve Beaty has identified this location as Augusta, KS. The train is switching at the west end of the Mobil Oil Corporation refinery.

Edit 2/28/2024: Augusta, KS, MP 484.0, is on the Wichita Subdivision. The afternoon photograph shows the train is westbound. Note the switch stand mast with switch lamp and target below. Both show red indicating the main line switch is set for the diverging route.

Photograph was taken from near the Lulu Street grade crossing. The roadway visible to the right on the south side of the tracks is West 6th Street.

In Augusta railroad's red brick depot remains. Unfortunately, both the railroad and the refinery have been abandoned and removed.

    View looking east northeast.
