Seeking information on an accident, derailment or other incident that resulted in the early, premature retirement during the 1960s of three Frisco GP7s.

SLSF 564 was retired in May 1964. It was the second GP7 to be retired. This unit was one of the dual service freight and passenger service GP7L units. It was used as trade in credit to General Motors (GM) Electro-Motive Division (EMD). With two additional later exceptions, the balance of Frisco’s GP7 units were not retired for a decade to a decade and a half later.

This unit was one of three units (SLSF 546, 547 and 564) delivered lettered on the long hood sides for the railroad’s Texas subsidiary Quanah, Acme & Pacific. Under the cab side numbers these units featured ownership lettering SL-SF. The locomotive was painted black with yellow lettering and stripes. Due to its early retirement, it was retired in this paint scheme.

Appreciate your input on the early retirement of SLSF 564.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
