Hello, My name is Cindy Parker. I'm here because my dad worked for the Frisco for about 40 years, and I simply want to read articles and see photos relating to the time span in which he was employed, and possibly find some people who worked with him. Right now, I am in the process of posting photos of the time period during which my family had the privilege of taking the train (for free!) on many vacations. I have read that your website has the best information of all. My dad's name was Raymond (Ray) Roper, Sr. (also went by R.W. Roper, Sr.) To the best of my knowledge, he worked for the Frisco from about 1940 to 1980. He passed in 2001, and I now regret that I did not get more information from him concerning his work. My brother, Raymond (Ray) Roper, Jr. worked for the Frisco as well for a period of time, but in an office setting at the Frisco Building. Thank you for giving me the privilege of being a member here! Have a look here:http://thelibrary.org/lochist/frisco/employee_cards/cards/FEC_41958.jpg This is the Springfield-Greene County Library's Frisco website that includes employee cards (Which is what this is), photos and other Frisco info. Tom G. PS: The typing is smeared and hard to read.
Wow! Thank you Tom! It wasn't hard to read at all. I am able to decipher each and every word. So, I was off by two years relating to when he started working. Sure does bring back memories. Thank you again for keeping the memories fresh. Can you tell me where to go to find pictures of passenger trains (interiors and exteriors) and dining cars between 1955 and 1965? Thanks again! Cindy
I think you already answered my question, Tom. I went to the library websit and have found all kinds of good info and pictures. Cindy
Some dining car photos here: http://thelibrary.org/lochist/frisco/friscoline/passdin1.cfm Also on the library website. Car 1652 and 1253 are mis-labeled. 1652 is a chair-buffet-lounge and 1253 is a chair car (Coach). TG
