The West Florida Railroad Museum in Milton, dedicated to the L&N and Frisco, just received a donation of the recording 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' by Frisco telegrapher Gene Autry. It is on display along with a brief biography of The Singing Frisco Railroader.
Re: Record I was just glancing at a recent biography of Gene Autry (Public Cowboy No. 1, by Holly George-Warren, Oxford University Press, 2007) and noticed a footnoted citation to the Frisco Employes Magazine. The FEM article turns out to be an interesting short profile of Autry's early musical career and recordings , with the comment that For anyone who's curious, the FEM article can be found on page 21 of the February 1930 issue, accessible by way of the Springfield/Greene Co. library's digitized Frisco collection at http://thelibrary.org/lochist/frisco/frisco.cfm For those interested in this conjunction of Frisco history and early country music, Public Cowboy No. 1 appears to have one chapter which is primarily devoted to Autry's employment on the Frisco (chapter 4, "Workin' on the Railroad")
