Evening Guys. Uhm,look I need some help with a pair of Proto 2000 Drop End Mill gons,that I have. As it is,I have a duplicate set of gons- SLSF 61899 & 61657. What I would like to do is maybe renumber them into a different number,but I don't know how the Frisco had these cars numbered. That is to say,what were the starting numbers,and the ending numbers? The cars are a brownish red with white lettering,and a Black & White Herald. Getting decals isn't the problem,just need to know what would be the appropriate number for the cars. Any help,would be great. Thanks guys. William.
According to the Frisco/Katy Color Guide to Freight Equipment by Nick Molo, the Frisco ordered three sets of these gondolas. The first two sets were numbers 61000-61399 and 61400-61599 and were painted all black. The third set, numbers 61600-61899, were painted freight car red. Your cars can be renumbered any number from 61600 to 61899.
