I was experimenting wish washes on a yellow hopper I have (as in the watered down paint for weathering). I wasn't sure weather to use a black or white wash for a yellow car. I did both and compared sided by side at a distance. I liked the black better, it look's grimy. But the white made it look faded. So I had the thought "what about grimly on top of faded?" So I put on a black wash and it looked weird, so I put on a second. instead of looking like grime on a faded yellow car, it was a sand color. When I say sand, I don't mean the red stuff from OK and TX. I would say it looks like the sand you would find in NM or AZ. So the formula for a sand color wash is one white wash, then 2 black washes, let it dry between washes.
