Please see the following link for a trackside view of the Elgin, OK depot.

The depot was constructed in 1902. Note the train order board blade, set for a train crew to pick up orders, on the depot's agent or operator bay. Elgin is located on the Chickasha Subdivision, mile post 614.6. Most likely the depot sat near 8th Street (a/k/a Oklahoma Highway 17). However, to date I have been unable to locate an original site address, orientation or other historical information on this structure.

Any help in obtaining photographs, measurements, field notes or other documentation would be greatly appreciated. In addition, additional photographs of the other sides of the structure and interior posted to this site would be a benefit to all.

After retirement by the Frisco, the depot was donated to the Museum of the Great Plains, moved 15.6 miles west to Lawton in 1963, relocated off site to their grounds for display, restored and opened for display. At the museum, in front of the depot, also on display is Frisco Steam locomotive 1526.

The museum address is 601 Northwest Ferris Avenue, Lawton, OK 73507.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
