hello my grand pa retired from the frisco depot in muskogee in the 80s... i have been lookin for a map of the origional frisco track so i can compare and find the old right of ways... there is alot of old right of ways in muskogee and it is very hard to tell what is what.. any info would be appreciated. my grand pa was jack d. fields.
Have you visited the Three Rivers Museum in Muskogee ? Perhaps they might have some maps .You might also check to see if OSU has the Sanborn fire insurance maps. In Missouri , for example the MIssouri Sanborn maps are on line while in Arkansas you have to go to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville for the Arkansas Sanborn maps.I would also check the Oklahoma Historical Society in OKC . Good luck.
i didnt make it to the museum but i am going to have to go there next time i am up there. i love finding old history.
Have you pulled up your gfathers employee card yet? It is listed as Jack Dean Fields and position included telegrapher at Muskogee.
I did a little searching, and found this topo map of Muskogee: You may have to click on the image to see an enlargement. The Frisco and Katy tracks cross at right angles, while the Midland Valley, coming from the east, crosses the Katy, then the Frisco at an angle.
Jack D. was the agent and did all the billing and rating of out bound car loads and was for all things the boss of the agents office in Muskogee He had one clerk working for him her name was Margie Wright wife of Joe Wright who was also a traffic salesman for the Frisco. both are deceased now. Hope this helps you out. Carl Mallonee
