To All: I am in the process of doing research on GP-15's and need some help. To that end, I have some questions about the small lettering around the locomotive. Doesanyone have any photos that would show this? Better yet, do you know where I might be able to obtain a builders diagram or something of the sort? One specific question is what does the lettering say at the bottom of the front of the nose? Any help from an expert here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob Hoover

Looks good. I always thought that the AMTRACK B-B trucked units would look good in the Frisco passenger paint.
This is one of Santa Fe's F45's that Frisco snatched off a train in Springfield and painted in their colors for the business train. I guess that's what can happen when railroads pool their power!
I am requesting tips or information on material to use as 'Fluting' on the lower sides of a model HO E7A Texas Special passenger engine. I had information that Union Station Products in Memphis, TN made such material but I am unable to locate this company at this time. Ken Elmore
Does anyone know what is the prototypical number of exhaust stacks to be used on the Stewart Models SLSF 214 VO-1000 ? Thanks for the help !
Remember sitting in the parking lot of the Fyler Ave. yards in St. Louis Mo waiting for dad to get off work. The passenger engines all carried the names of famous race horses, such as "Man of War","Seabiscut",and War Admiral. Thought this was quite interesting representing the comparison between powerful and fast engines and the horses. Really enjoy the Frisco site. Keep up the great work John M Carter (Johnny)
Walthers EMC 60' doodlebug Here is a shot of the Walthers EMC 60' doodlebug. It looks mighty close to the 2121. The arched windows might take a bit of work, but much closer to Frisco than the Spectrum. Any thoughts?
Regarding Jim Arnett's question in the "Prototype" section on modeling an N-Scale GP-38-2: There is a good discussion (posted by Charlie Dischinger, I think) on Mandarin red under "Models: Modeling Tips: Frisco Paint Formulae." Model Railroader, in their December 1989 issue, printed a superb article by Richard Napper on modeling GP38ACs and GP38-2s in HO-Scale from Athearn kits. He suggests using Floquil SP Daylight Red in his article. Incidentially, Tim Cannon (an FMIGer in Chaffee MO - are you out there Tim?) suggested Floquil's "Saucony Red" (sp?) as his color of choice for obtaining a more faded, orangish Mandarin Red. That was approximately 10-12 years ago, I have never tried it and I'm not sure if Floquil even makes this color anymore. Richard Napper's MR article also shows a J.David Ingles photo of GP-38AC #651 at Lindenwood 12/21/1973 with the coonskin logo on the nose. He also references GP38-2 #460 on the last corporate calendar (of which I have a framed copy at home)with the coonskin logo. These are the only ones I've ever seen in this group with the coonskin. Jim, good luck, happy modeling and be sure to post a photo of the finished product when completed. --Chris
Does anyone make a Pyle light in H.O to use on Frisco locos? Were there any GP38-2's that didn't have that feature?
I can't find my Walthers catolog right now but there is a gyralite for EMD and GE Frisco locomotives in the super detailing section. I can't remember who makes them off hand. Here is a list of the ones that had gyralights: 100-124 GP15-1 400-478 GP38-2 633-662 GP38AC 663-699 GP38-2 750-774 GP40-2 790-799 GP50 844-862 U30B 863-870 B30-7 943-948 SD45 950-957 SD40-2 Roger
