Does anyone have any color photos or drawings of 1500 class semi streamliners? All I've got are b & w, and I'd like to know the color scheme.

    Thanks,

Black, stainless band edged with red stripes.

Thanks, Don. Since the stainless band is edged with red, I would guess the FRISCO on the skirt and the number on the tender side are red, also. Are the stripes on the domes and number on the sand dome dulux?

    Thanks,

It's not a 1500, but but this will give you a general idea.

OK, more specifically. Stainless skirt, band on tender. Red striping edging the skirt and edged in gold. Red stripes on domes, edged in gold. In this photo it appears the lettering on the skirt and tender are red, however I believe them to be black. The cab roof between rain gutters is Signal Red.

Don, had never really noticed that the red cab roof on these was just between the gutters. I thoroughly enjoy learning the little details like these.

    Best Regards,

Did that cab roof red paint have any waterproof or antirust properties or was it purely decorative?

    Thanks, Tom G.

IMO I think it's Red Oxide primer type paint. Lee Buffington insisted it was signal red. I think it depended upon the whim of the roundhouse foreman in some instances. You would be correct either way. The paint in the photo looks "primer flat" to me.
