This caboose is of the later Frisco standard design that featured a steel cupola with vertical side walls and large end windows. The earlier design featured a wood cupola with tapered side walls and small end windows.

The museum has taken some liberty with the paint scheme on this caboose. The window frames and fuel oil fill door on the right side should be the same color as the car body, not white. The roofs were painted either black or the car body color depending on the prototype caboose.

The horizontal bars above and below the reporting marks and car number should be stencil white, not black. The end diamond shaped markers should be yellow Scotctlite reflector material and are missing on the B end. It is possible on this end they were replaced with the red reflector on the roof eve.

Also, both sides of the caboose should feature 3 windows, as on the left side. One window had been covered over on the right side. The A end door appears to have a modified with a larger than standard upper window.

Even with these discrepancies, the caboose is in very good overall condition. The photographs indicate the metal hardware including the marker light brackets on the end corners are in place.

The caboose is on display at the Mammoth Spring State Park. The address is 17 US Highway 63, Mammoth Spring, AR 72554. Please see http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/mammothspring.

The museum is based out of the 1886 Frisco brick depot.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
