Fellows: I have just fisished installing a new Soundtraxx Tsunami in one of my Atlas GP 38's. It is one of the newer ones with the correct sound for the GP38. I had been using speakers that I purchased from DigiKey that are meant for laptop computers. I had been making my own enclosures from Styrene. Well, no more. Over the Holidays I discovered a new source for Bass corrected speakers that are out of this world. At $12.95 each plus shipping they are a little on the expensive side but the quality of the sound they put out is well worth the investment. They are a little bigger than what I had been using and I had to make some modifications to the loco's weights and rear numberboards. I also eliminated the rear headlight. All I can say is WOW what a difference. Eventually I will change over all my locos to this speaker. These speakers are available from www.railmasterhobbies.com . The one I ordered was the DSM8. The shipping charges were a very reasonable amount. If you are planning on adding sound to your loco I recommend the Tsunami Decoder and these speakers. I will also add that I am not totally impressed with the lighting functions on the decoder but they will do for now. The TCS decoders have the best lighting functions and I may well piggy back one onto this setup just for the lights. I have the nose gyralight, the rotary beacon and the front headlight on this loco. Good job, the video does give an indication how good the bass is with the bass reflex speaker enclosure!
Keith: Thanks, I just wish I had a better camera to record video. This was taken on my work bench and was hastily done. If I can find someone with a little better camera I may try it on my layout. While filming a must have hit some buttons I shouldn't have on my Zephyr. Now the decoder turns on the bell when going to reverse. I am going to do a factory reset on it to take car of that. Isn't DCC wonderful! Bob
that is nice bob!!! I hope to have something rigger up like that someday. And if you ever need help on getting video on to your computer, just let me know. Unless your using a Mac, then I probably cant help you.
