Folks, We have something new; an OFF TOPIC forum. What does this mean? Every so often someone posts a topic that is interesting (to some folks) but not necessarily Frisco or railroad related. Where do these topics go? Well, no one is sure but now we have the answer. This is a duplication of a feature that we have on TrainBoard and it works well. The off topic forum is a forum that can be viewed by those that choose to see and participate in it, and those that do not will not even see it. We've had good luck on TrainBoard with people not cluttering the off topic forum with junk, but still offering very interesting discussions. Another great thing about it is that only members, and members who choose to see it will see it so if you post a picture of you or your house or your grandkids, you have an added layer of security. Also, posts and pictures in that forum will not be indexed by search engines because they can't get in. To see the gateway to this feature, go to the main forums page and scroll down to the bottom forum. There, you will also see instructions on how to join. It takes just a couple of clicks to join that forum and then you can see it. If you are not interested, then do nothing and there is no change for you at all. Questions? Feel free to ask. I believe that I have it working properly but I may need to adjust a couple of settings. Charlie
I don't think "off topic" posts have really been a problem on this chat board. I think the members here always seem to use restraint and good taste. I'm for just leaving everything "as is." Tom G.
Tom, No, this isn't a solution to a problem but it will allow members to do more without cluttering the railroad forums and to be able to post some personal pictures with a greater assurance of privacy. Those that are not interested in that won't be bothered by it. Charlie
