Well, it's almost midnight here, but I'll go ahead and post this. Here is my look back at the year of 2009. Jan 2 I purchased my first Frisco locomotive, followed 2 days latter by joining Frisco.org. April purchased another locomotive. May I met Bob Wintle and Mike for the first time, and got to use DCC for the first time and got to use a sound equipped loco for the first time. Then in September I attended the Frisco convention and met more people, as well as start the new version of the Iantha Branch. Then in December I went to rick McClellan's layout and had my first "real" operating session. Now it's been about a year since I started in on the Frisco and here is what I have gained: A roster of 5 nice locomotives, tons of freight cars, many new friends, and a new respect for DCC and layout building. Happy new year, what's your look back at 2009?
I feel truly blessed for 2009. As one of her Christmas gifts for 2008 from me, my dear wife decided that it was time that I get started on my railroad, so in January I started sorting through what to do. As a result: 1) I discovered this forum, populated with the finest model railroading support group around. 2) Through this forum, I was provided access to materials, sources and people that made it possible for me develop a plan for my road. 3) Through this forum, I was able to meet many of the fine people that have inspired me. 4) Through this forum, I was introduced to what I feel is the best reason to build a model railroad; OPERATING. I did not understand just how much more enjoyable model railroading could be until I had operated on a model railroad with a group of others. 5) Through this forum, I have been able to share some of my treasures, time and talent - I feel strongly that supporting each other's endeavors is what makes us all stronger and what ultimately binds us together. Thanks to all of you out there, 2009 was a great year for Frisco modelers!
