1950 Period Freight Cars

    Here are representative freight cars one might see on a layout in the early post-WWII era. The boxcars include 1920's steel rebuilds, 1930's outside braced cars, and 1937 and 1948 new steel cars.

    More 1950 Period Freight Cars

    Here are some freight cars other than boxcars, all pre-war except the 1948 covered hoppers and long mill gondola. The coke car was one of four that the Frisco converted from 1930 wood boxcars for service around Birmingham. I'm surprised it didn't burn up at some time.

    Ken--

    Very nice work. Can you give a little background on your rolling stock, such as what kit was your starting point and how you modified and detailed it? For instance, 147235 looks like it may have started as an Accurail car, but it looks like you added some grabs, changed the trucks, relettered, and weathered.
