    Hello everyone.

I have a question about caboose SLSF 1164.

After looking at all the fine information here I was under the impression that the 1100s were all ex-ATSF cabs. But on Mike Condren's web site "Frisco Railroad" he shows a photograph of caboose SLSF 1164 which looks like an east coast style.

    Please see the following link.

Anyone have any info on this caboose?

    Thanks,

    Mike P

That is one of the cabooses the Frisco got when it acquired the Northeast Oklahoma (NEO) Railroad.

Do a search for NEO using the search tab on this forum to find out more.

There is even an HO construction article in one of the Frisco Modelers Information Group (FMIG) Newsletters posted here.

    I was the author.

    Indeed!

Newsletter #12, pages 2-8, has an article on modeling the former 1100-series cabooses.

It also includes a drawing of an interior floor plan on page 4 and numerous photographs of various 1100-series prototypes, not to mention Doug's caboose SLSF 1145, and Glenn Young's model of caboose SLSF 1152.

    Please see the following link.

    https://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/fmig-newsletters.1665/page-2

As a side note, I am making headway on the FMIG Newsletter index. Thanks to Ken Wulfert for "priming the pump," I am through NL #17 and hope to start providing individual posts for individual newsletters, along with a master index.

    Stay tuned.

    Best Regards,

    Whoops, thanks for clarify, Doug.

I need to read more carefully and finishing indexing the remainder in order to cure kneejerkis reactionitis.

Is it safe to say that you are probably dealing with less snow now in Ann Arbor, MI than you would be shoveling in Annapolis, MD? :)

Off to look at Issue 36!

    Best Regrds,

    Mike,

Please see the following link for an in service photograph of Frisco caboose SLSF 1164 (2nd).

    http://www.tristatemodelrailroaders.com/NewSite/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/File0046.jpg

The end ladders and handrails on the cupola roof have been removed. Note the yellow warning stencils outlined in black on the sides near the curved hand rails. The black lettering says on the first and second lines "Keep Off Roof" and "No Running Boards".

This car also had a close encounter with something that left a crease in the side. This damage is above the belt rail at the level of the lower window panes.

This is the second Frisco caboose to carry this number as noted in the other posts on this thread. The photograph was taken in Miami, OK. The location is just outside the former NEO shops.

The Frisco purchased the car in 3/1971. It was acquired to replace older local service cars on the Frisco. It is former Santa Fe caboose ATSF 1654.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Mark
