The St Louis RPM Show is this weekend at the Gateway Center in Collinsville IL. https://www.gatewaycenter.com/event/railroad-prototype-modelers-meet I will only be there the first hour (0900 hrs to 1000 hrs) on Friday. I'll be attending my latest granddaughter's 1st birthday party this weekend in Knoxville TN. via Cincinnati OH. ;-)
Craig, feel free to share a report and/or pics upon your return as time allows. Anyone else attending? Brad Slone? Wish I could go, but just got home from taking the eldest to his orientation in Cape at SEMO. Time to get some things done around the house.
My dad and I went down like usual. We just got home. I will try to add photos tomorrow. Brad and Ray were there also.
Postings to the St. Louis Railfans and Modelers Facebook page were fantastic. The by-line (poster's name) threw me off. However, after seeing the items, I knew who was doing the posting and who made the models. Everyone should go see the page if they can.
Yep, I was there, we all had a great time, Steve and his dad are a blast to hang around with and Steve's models are even more impressive in person. They said that they broke the attendance record from last year and it is supposedly the largest RPM event in the country. For those that have never been able to attend I would sure recommend trying to make one sometime. You never know who you might run into, they had folks come all the way from Australia, and the models are just simply amazing. For those diesel modelers among you I suggested to Scale Trains they look into a high nose version of the U25B, can't hurt. Shoot, Ray and I met a couple young fellows that are very interested in Frisco steam, guess the legacy of the 1522 lives on! I'm already looking forward to next year! Brad Slone
My buddy Terry Paul shot this. Starts with Brads posterior. Ha Thanks Brad, we always have fun with you and Ray too!
Makes me sad to watch this. So many of us suffering from heartbreak of this malady. Hangover! Like me, so many bellies hang over the belt. Find a cure. Some really nice work there.
Yep, agree! I suffer from a mild case of tummy tumor as well. I've lost about ten pounds since moving to Florida, however. Probably due to more seafood, less cheeseburgers I guess! Ken
HA Don, I am one of them too. My dad and I were joking there about how at swap meets it used to seem like there were strollers in every aisle now there is a walker or scooter in every aisle. Terry's video gives you a good feel of the event. There were over 600 participants and just shy of 4,000 models. Plus small swap meet, dealers and manufactures, clinics and modular layouts.
A few of my photos: Pulling 70 cars! We went out to Ken Patterson's place after the show Saturday. He will have a podcast from that night on soon and will do a full "what's neat" from the event.
Here is Brad Slone's models: Lots of fun and strange things happened over the weekend but by far the best for me was talking to Kevin Rupert that owns Caboose Hobbies in Denver. I found out he was assigned to the white Cline service truck I built the model of when he worked for the Katy in the late 70s. Don't know who was the most surprised him seeing the model or me meeting a guy who worked with it. Steve
