Here is an interesting article from the Railway Age, June 7, 1901, which discusses the effect of the Frisco-Memphis Road merger with regard to locations which were served by both railroad companies. Most of the impact affected the Leaky Roof - High Line corridor. The handwriting was on the wall at this early date, but the rationalization process was slow to completion. Even as the merger process was in the works, the Frisco was spending money to renovate older portions of the High Line. The Yoakum letter is from my collection.
