Hi I am new to the site so please forgive me if I ask a dumb question. I have 2 Athearn Genesis HO Scale Frisco F units with the older MRC sound units. I believe this sound decoder offers 4 different horns but they are not labeled other than horn 1-4. Is anyone familiar with this decoder and is there a particular horn offered that is Frisco prototype? If not maybe I need to upgrade these units. Also I have a Frisco business car that I bought on Ebay that is painted in Frisco Blue and lettered as Magic City. I was wondering if this car actually existed. Thanks for any help. David
Expensive Leslie 5-chime horns. There's a youtube recording. Search for it - Frisco diesel horn. A7 chord, first inversion: C#, E, G, A, C# very jazzy, chosen by the USMC Band Commander many years ago.
Those MRC decoders have been problematic and have not gotten good reviews for many reasons. Do a Google search. I don't believe they support the Leslie RS5T, RS5LT or RS5TF, which were the most popular with the Frisco. This thread has the discussion that covers the horn topic for Frisco locomotives best: http://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/ron-chamberlain-horn-data.4164/#post-28196
