I'm with Sherrel. It would make no sense to do a Firefly version or even a streamlined version of the 4-6-4 since PSC is releasing the Firefly and duplication would be sales limiting. I'd do the 4-6-4 with the Scullen, 1066. Do they even do N Scale Brass? I've never looked.
Don said 1060-1069. Don do you mean a 4-6-2 or a 4-6-4? In the frisco models from the pictures I looked at there's quite a bit of difference between the two. Ethan
I'm thinking it would be offered either streamlined or un, different pilots and the Scullin main and other variations on skirting. Just a WAG.. Ethan, the 1060-1069 4-6-4s were built from the 4-6-2s back in the '30s. That's why they have the same numbers.
...and the 1060 model would be offered as the post-'30's 4-6-4? That would be nice! (So would a pre-'30's 4-6-2...). George "it was not that obvious to me, either" Nelson
I vote for the Hudson rebuilds. That is the one steam engine that I know of that is not available in any genre. I know that some of the engines available are not absolutely accurate, but, there is nothing available in the Frisco 4-6-4 wheel arrangement. I agree with Don's comment about the Toby he has on sale not selling. The brass market is very expensive and therefor not really available to everyone, so I don't agree with the comment that they would be flying off the shelf. That said, I am pleased that another Frisco brass model may become available. The last two (GPM 4500s and the PSC Firefly--not here yet) are excellent models, and should make any Frisco fan proud that our railroad has been included in the lastest offerings. Also, PSC is in the process of taking reservations for the original three car Firefly passenger car set. I haven't heard how that project is progressing, but I hope it comes to fruition also. Terry
1060, even though I don't think I ever saw one "in the flesh". Hopefully all three versions, the two different stream-styled ones and plain Hungerford. If the builder is who I assume it is, then there is no question they could do a magnificent 1500, but considering that it was done almost 45 years ago (pretty amazing when you think about it), the Toby 1500 is a fine piece of work so let's go with something that hasn't been done before. I bought my Toby at All-Nations Hobby Shop when it was still located in the Loop in Chicago. It was either the summer of '68 or '69 and I bought it on "lay-away".
I'd like one of the 1060's that were decorated with just "FRISCO LINES" on the side panel (And not the "diamond"). I think they looked more hefty. OR one of the engines that was stripped of the streamlining. 'Course I want one in N Scale and that's just a pipe dream anyway... Tom G.
