That’s about how the Reader painted their engines in the early 60’s. When the tender carried the herald that said “The Possum Trot Line.” Yeah! How cool can you get. They also painted the wood cab window and door frames gloss grass green and the injector/related fittings gloss fire engine red! Man! Beautiful! I adopted that scheme for my railroad and added brass cylinder heads, yellow handrails up to the cab, and yellow diagonal safety striping on the pilot/tender footboards like the DM&IR. Man was that work but it was beautiful! I’ll never do it again though!
