The coal pusher on a Frisco locomotive of this size was a rarity, however 1306, 1308, 1309, 1314, 1316, 1318, 1322, 1327, 1328, 1330, 1334, 1336, and 1341 carried them.
Yes, the following 1306-Class locomotives had the Jacobs-Schupert firebox: 1308, 1311 rebuilt with radial stay, 1313, 1314, 1315, 1327, 1344. https://books.google.com/books?id=d...ce=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false
Thanks for posting this photo. What changes would have been made to this engine since my Grandfather was on it as a fireman in 1917 Thank you, Mark
It was rebuilt with a radial stayed firebox instead of the Jacobs-Shupert. Received the bigger sand dome, bell moved to smokebox front, single Westinghouse cross compound air pump, converted to oil burner and a brakemen's doghouse on tender as well as small details. Picture is in 1950 at Ft. Smith, AR.
Thank you for the reply. Would the left side view that was posted first be close to what the engine looked like in 1917? Was the headlight always mounted in the center of the smokebox door or was it mounted higher on the top front edge of the smokebox in 1917? I have a list of 51 different engines that my Grandfather logged in his time booklets. There are photos of many of those engines on different web pages, but most all of them were taken in the 40s or 50s and like the 1950 photo of 1327 above they underwent many modifications since my Grandfather would have been on them. My Grandfather worked for Frisco as a fireman from 1915 or 1916 until about 1925. I would like to see photos of some of these engines as they were when he was working for Frisco. Thanks again, Mark
