I was able to add a track for the Springfield Union Stock Yards so I can move livestock in my 1950 sessions.

I want to add a building front for the stockyard but don't have any trackside photos.

Ideally, I would like to know what it looked like in 1950 or so, and 1978 or so.

    Thanks in advance for checking.

Please see the book Frisco in Color 2, top of page 10.

Its one of my favorite photographs. I played their as a kid. It went on West and ended at about the Kansas Avenue Expressway bridge. The pens had chutes about maybe 30' by 30' for various livestock. About 4 feet wide doors opened to the railroad stock cars. It was open timber covered by corrugated metal. The sides were a little more than 2" by 6" rough cut, maybe 3' by 8' or so.

The ground to the south of the track was built up to about 3 or 4 feet to the height of the stock car floor. The gates opened to allow stock to be loaded or unloaded directly into the car. There was no incline from the car to the pens, it was about level. There was a wood pile foundation, and standard dock flooring.

Oh, about 1967 through 1973 or so, it burned down some time in there.

    I hope that helps.
