Folks and especially River Division experts:

Employee Timetable from April 1937 shows the aforementioned trains on the Jonesboro Subdivision with daily motor car service between Blytheville, AR and Jonesboro AR.

    No 899----Station--------No 898
    1:15 PM----Blytheville---11:59 AM
    -------------Leachville----10:55 AM
    2:23 PM---Leachville----8:34 AM
    3:35 PM---Jonesboro----7:30 AM

    Questions:

    1) Does anyone know what motor cars were assigned to this line?
    2) And, were they still in operation in the early 1940s?

I do not have my 1941 River Division ETT handy. I am a bit puzzled as to the almost 2 1/2 hour layover at Leachville for No 898. I do show that No 812 ran daily between Kennett and Leachville, arriving at the latter at 10:50 am. Perhaps allowing for a transfer to No 898 and onto Blytheville. That is the only plausible explanation that I can find.

A bit of a digression, but if anyone has steam-era photographs of the Blytheville, AR passenger depot, I would be interested in seeing them. Please contact me off-list or share you photograph on the Frisco Resource Center.

    Chris,

Sorry for the delay, my computer blew up and I am slowly coming back up to steam.

Luckily I had 99.8% of my Frisco stuff backed up on floppies. Anyway, my May 1940 timetable show the doodlebugs still in service. However, the layover at Leachville for No 898 was adjusted to 7:49-10:15 AM.

I think I have a 1943 ETT somewhere unless I donated it to the Mammoth Springs depot, I will have to look. As for what was assigned I do not know other than a photograph of motorcar SLSF 2100 in the book Frisco Southwest page 96 taken 10/29/1929 at Jonesboro, AR.

I am assuming that it ran on the old Jonesboro, Lake City and Eastern (JLC&E) since Jonesboro was served by many standard passenger trains. Or it was possibly running on the Jonesboro-Bono-Algoa run at the time which my 1926 TT shows as No 259 southbound and No 258 northbound without the motor car daily note.

That is all I can add.

    Roger,

    Thanks for the information.

If you still have the 1943 ETT, I would relish seeing it in full on the Resource Center.

If scanning is not doable, please contact me and I will be glad to make arrangements for a copy.

    Chris.

    Chris,

After checking I do not have the 1943 public timetable.

I gave a whole box of Frisco stuff to the Mammoth Springs depot 10 years ago. I think my reasoning was I only need one of each decade, so donate the rest. I seem to remember a 1945 public timetable went with the 1943 one.

The only timetables I have are 1926, 1937, 1940 and 1964 public timetables, plus the 1970s division employee timetables.

    Sorry!

    Roger
