Made a trip to the James Memorial Public Library today, where a friend is a librarian.

They have lots of local historic pictures.

Lots more to go through, but I grabbed some of Sligo.

She is getting permission for me to scan everything; these are just pictures of the pictures.

The famous Sligo picture, in much higher quality.

I believe towards the left of the photo, I can see a crossbuck at the railroad crossing!

Spent some time at the library in St. James, MO.

A friend of mine is a librarian there, and they have thousands of local history photographs. I found lots of the Salem Branch, as well as some good Sligo shots. She is getting permission for me to professionally scan them. For now, these are me taking a picture of the picture.

Photograph 1 - The famous Sligo panoramic, in much better quality and larger than the copy I usually see. This picture is so clear, I think I can see a crossbuck to the left of the photograph where the railroad crosses the road!

Photograph 2 - Photograph from the same location, panned to the left. I have not seen this photograph before now. I believe a set of railroad tracks are visible on the bank of Crooked Creek. It seems to be the same as the last photograph, just turned further south. I see a water tank for a locomotive on one of the tracks, with buildings near it.

Are we looking at the Sligo depot?

Photograph 3 - People in front of Sligo Iron Furnace. This picture has also made the rounds online, but I have never seen it in this good of quality. Had to share with my friends on here.

Photograph 4 - Sligo Furnace Company store and offices. Makes me sad that so little remains of Sligo. This would be cool to see today.

Photograph 5 - Inside the Sligo Furnace complex. See the pigs drawn in the sand, ready to be filled with hot molten iron.

Photograph 6 - Engine with “Sligo Furnace Co.” on the side. I do not know much about engines, so someone else will have to fill us in on this one!

Photograph 7 - I think the caption on the photo explains this one well enough.

Photograph 8 - Once again, self explanatory.

Photograph 9 - Read the caption!

I will be headed back to search for more! I will also be posting pictures for other branches in their respective forums.

    Enjoy!
