My name is Wes Sparkmon. I'm a graduate student at Ole Miss and have spent most of my "adult life" in Mississippi about 30 minutes from the old Frisco line through Holly Springs and New Albany. Being in Mississippi, I've gained an appreciation for railroads in Mississippi. Most of what I want to learn about has to do with model railroad planning. In particular, the two places which are of the most interest to me is the Frisco between Memphis and Amory, MS, and the Frisco docks in Pensacola. Since I'm interested in model railroading, I'm always looking for track charts, industry guides, and information about operations. I look forward to investigating this information. - Wes
Wes, Welcome Aboard. You will note that the forum has two major sub-groups, Historical and Modeling. For questions about historical or prototype aspects, the appropriate location would be in a sub-forum under Historical. Modeling questions would find a location in a sub-forum under Modeling the Frisco. There are plenty of knowledgeable people on our forum to cover both aspects.
Wes - Also, welcome aboard frisco.org. I visited Ole Miss and Oxford two years ago on our way from Kansas City to Florida. The campus and college town both lived up to their fine reputation! Ken
Welcome aboard, Wes. Glad to see I'm not the only one with an interest in Mississippi railroads. When I was a boy, my grandmother gave me a book about the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio for my birthday and I became fascinated by the railroads of Louisiana and Mississippi.
As a little kid - my dad worked as a surveyor for the Frisco and we lived for a while in Amory. Welcome aboard!
Wes, our own Mark Davidson (mark) lived in Amory for a while. His dad worked for the Frisco and ended up in upper management.
