Here is an excellent builders photograph of 4-6-0 SLSF 55. Built by Rogers Locomotive Works in 1880. The locomotive would be renumbered to SLSF 165 and later SLSF 415. Andre
To me, that is train porn. I am working on a Frisco locomotive and mixed train from the 1880s. Good shot of the tender lettering as well. Any more golden oldies?
Hi Jim: LOL! "Train porn", eh? I do not have any more at this time that have not already been posted. However, I am always on the lookout for more pictures from my favorite steam era. Be sure to check out my thread about the early renumbering of their engines the St.L&SF enacted. There is a composite scan that has three nice pictures of more "Train Porn". Here is a direct link to that thread: http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?6286-Steam-Roster-Renumberings EDIT: Actually, I may have one or two more early St.L&SF engine pictures that are not posted to this site. I will see what I can do over the next evening or so. Andre
As promised here is a link to another locomotive. http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?6295-St.L-amp-SF-2-8-0-68-Baldwin-1881&p=46554#post46554 Andre
Library of Congress photograph of same locomotive. St Louis & San Francisco no. 55, 4-6-0, Built by Rogers Locomotive Works, cn 2652, 1880 Renumbered SLSF 415.
Best resolution of that picture I have yet to find! Excellent! Thanks for posting! By the way, that engine and its sisters live in V-scale. Andre
