When the QLA went by way of Floydada, TX which way did the Santa Fe handle it, up to the transcon at Canyon, or down to Lubbock, then from there out toward Clovis?

    Thanks,

    Thanks, Jerome.

Was there a specific reason why?

Canyon seemed to measure a couple of miles shorter, plus you were right on the transcon. However, I guess for power-swapping and maybe drop-off cars for Lubbock, that would make sense.

I guess everything stopped at Clovis anyway, and I guess Canyon wouldn't have had the facilities needed for this operation.

    Chris,

I am not sure why QLA & QSF went via Lubbock.

The QLA was through power. I believe QSF power turned back at Lubbock or Clovis. Also, QSF had a set out for Floydada, autos for the auto ramp. And I think they had a set out for Lubbock of traffic for West Texas.

I will see if I can find something that would confirm this.

    Disappointed to finally learn that.

I always thought it went around the west leg of the old wye at Canyon to Lubbock Jct. The old wye was still there when I was there last. And I agree it would have been quicker.

However, definitely more traffic at Lubbock.
