On Mike Condren's web site is a photograph of side door caboose SLSF 29.

I am researching this car. The only problem is the front 3/4 view is in deep shadows. I have looked high and low and have not found another photograph of this car.

Does anyone know if the shadowed end is a freight car end with ladders or is it hiding a man door for access to the interior?

    Thanks.

    Larry,

Here is a photograph of caboose SLSF 29.

I do not know who to credit for the photograph.

That just begs to be kit bashed or scratch built.

    Great character!

Is there a platform on the far end?

With the curved grab iron, I would tend to think so. If so, odd that there is no end platform on the near side.

    It is definitely unique.

Any plans to model this one, Larry or Jim?

    Best Regards,

Way too modern for my era.

    What a shame.

Looking at a zoomed-in view, there is a platform and steps on the other end.

    Ask and ye shall receive.

That is a wonderful shot Keith and I do thank you posting. I am going to kit bash one using the American Model Builders (AMB) kit I have had on the shelf for awhile. I plan to shorten the window side and add that to the other end.

That is the plan, but as they say about best laid plans.

For anyone that maybe interested there is a Pacific Fast Mail (PFM) brass decorated model of side door caboose SLSF 28 on eBay.

    Larry,

I wonder if a person could cut the caboose at the cupola and add the appropriate length (B end) double sheathed boxcar?

The seam could be between boards, what a deal, if the cuts were clean. Then you would have the right brake gear on that end, the door in the end would be a little work too.

That is an interesting caboose. A little out of my era but a great looking project for you.

Please post photographs of your progress.

    Keith,

I would like to use this photograph in an article I am writing on this.

    Should I just credit you?

They cannot put us all in the slammer.

    Tom,

You can credit it as being from the Richard E. Napper Collection.

    Thanks whiz.

Does the Napper collection have any contact person or is this public domain?

    Tom,

The Napper Collection has photographs that Richard was either given or he bought.
