The 40 spot has just arrived from being overhauled at Springfield and is in Newburg to join her fellow knuckledragger sister 19. Soon she will be kinking rails and straightening curves on the Fort Leonard Wood Branch and being a helper out of Newburg.
Nice Don! Good to see the two heavyweights #19 and #40 back at work out of Newburg. I like your moniker "knuckledraggers"! Lots of curves for them to straighten out on Rolla and Dixon Hills, plus for sure on the Ft Wood branch. K
Surface-bent rails, mis-aligned curves, and pulled drawbars (knuckles); All in a days work. It's 1940 again; very nice!
Nice to see a model of my 3rd favorite Frisco locomotive class - right behind the 4300 and 4400-class Mountains. Or maybe I should say 2nd favorite, since the 4400s were spot-series locomotives in origin. All negatives aside, I think the 2-10-2s simply scream "brute force." What's the origin of your model, Don? Scratchbuilt? Regardless, it looks superb as do all of the end products from the West Pacific Shops. Best Regards,
