    Folks,

I hope everyone is enjoying the new Frisco Archive. By looking at the statistics, I can see that a lot of you are checking on the site daily. It will get more exciting day-by-day.

As you can see, the scans being posted to the site (by Bob Dye) are very high quality, over 6000 pixels wide for each photo. I don’t think any Frisco content has been posted to the web before at this kind of resolution.

We continue to acquire slides on an almost daily basis and a new one will be posted to the site each day.

The problem here is, as always, financial. I have dropped over $1,000 recently and just bought another collection of locomotive slides for over $200 yesterday. A week or so ago I paid around $50 each for several slides. Painful, but I thought that everyone would like them so I bought them. I can't afford to do this for too long.

These slides will become property of Frisco.org, essentially being donated. At this high quality, you could easily have one professionally printed at a very large size.

In the very near future, I think we have a chance to acquire more slides. I am speaking of good slides, not BN patched locomotives, or pictures of buildings near the tracks. Note the content on the Frisco Archive for examples, and we have better stuff just around the corner and it is very exciting.

We do ask for donations solely for the purpose of purchasing slides. I would love to take in several hundred dollars in the near future for this purpose. These high resolution scans will be available to everyone. You can save a new one every day.

Not only do we need funding, we also need access to more collections of slides. I don’t know about people that sit on these things and keep them to themselves, but my goal, and the goal of the site as a whole, is to make this information available to everyone. Perpetuating the history of our railroad across the Internet should be the goal of everyone.

For those that wish to donate (solely for purchasing slides), please see link at the top of the page that says “Support Frisco.org.”

There are several options to donate using PayPal. Three of the subscriptions are monthly recurring subscriptions and the others are one-time donations allowing someone to donate whenever they feel the urge to help this project.

I hope everyone who can afford to help this project will consider assisting with financial help, and for those with a slide collection, letting us scan them would be a great help as well.

If you have questions or comments, please send me a private message.

    Thanks,

    Charlie

    Folks,

I have the chance to acquire what appears to be close to 50 really good Frisco locomotive slides for the site. It's going to cost in the $300 range. If anyone wants to throw in a few dollars toward this, it would sure be appreciated. All will be offered in high-res scans.

Charlie, can you offer some more options between $10 and $50 in the non-recurring category of the slide acquisition club?
Also, do you need funds for the server expenses? Some time ago, I believe it was stated here that when the need arose for the ongoing expenses of the server it would be publicized.

    Folks,

Here's an update on this: First, thank you to everyone that donated during this last round of begging. We acquired almost every slide that we were attempting to procure as a result of your generosity. Most of these slides have already been scanned (thanks Bob) and will be introduced to you in super high-quality through the Frisco Archive website during the next year. That's right, the next year. We have enough content right now to keep the content coming for one year.

And, as you have probably noticed, these are good images coming your way - images that you can save to your computer and keep.

If we get enough content, we might be able to up the Frisco Archive post frequency from one every 24 hours to one every 12 hours. But, we need more; more slides, more documents, and more money.

The Frisco Archive in our big push to introduce new (and high quality) Frisco content to the Intertnet.

Right now we have another crack at some really good slides. About $200 is surely to be needed for this in the short term. Remember, many hands make light work, so if people will donate small amounts of money toward this, we will get what we want.

Any questions? Feel free to drop me a message. If you can donate, please click here.

    Thanks,

    Charlie

As a "lurking member" I would like to be able to donate what little I can, whenever I can. But I don't have Paypal. And would rather send cash, check, or money order for the amount of my miniscule donation. But I don't see/can't find an address to do this. I do understand why you might be reluctant to provide this. I myself question the advisability of doing so in my own transacting of business. So just a thought. There may be others in this group that feel the same as I do, but might be willing to donate SOMETHING, so as not to feel like a free-loader.
