Went to west Tulsa this morning, took photos of Frisco 4-8-4 Northern 4500 and the other railcars on display. 11/04/2021 Joe
Wow, 4500s paint is already chalking and fading. Too bad Imron is so expensive. We used a 2 part urethane on 1522 and she still looks good (with a good bath). There are ways to theftproof the bell. That box looks hideous.
Oh, yes; I know. I live less than a mile from the mainline and drive a section of Rte 66 every day. The irony is the fact that Rte 66--and the accompanying American fascination with the automobile--helped put rail passenger service out of business and cut deeply into freight traffic. Delighted as I am to see that 4500 being preserved, its presence in a Rte 66 memorial almost seems like gloating.
