Hello all! My name is Jacklyn Aldrich and I live in Chadwick , MO. In 2016 we (Chadwick R1 School District) applied for CDBG funds to assist with funding required to construct the Chadwick Flyer Trail from the Chadwick Community Building in Chadwick, MO (where the old depot for the Frisco rail line steam engine "Chadwick Flyer" was located) to the local school district. In 218 matching funding was acquired through the Recreational Trails Program to complete the project. The trail runs 1.5 miles south from the depot along Rose Avenue and Hwy 125 south to the entrance of the Chadwick R-1 School District. The trail and recreational park will be listed as a historical marker for 25 years through the RTP grants management program. We as a community are very excited about this project and very proud of it. I am trying to locate information, pictures, maps, ect. of the Frisco's Chadwick Flyer. If you or anyone you know has any information, please contact me. Thank you! Jacklyn Aldrich Chadwick R1 School District 417-634-3588 aldrichj@chadwick.k12.mo.us
Hi, Jacklyn - welcome to the group. As someone who frequents Katy Trail State park on a regular basis, I'm always happy to hear of other rails-to-trails projects. An excellent starting point would be this thread and attached PDF history by Karl Brand. http://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/they-called-it-the-chad.6655/ Best Regards,
Jacklyn, Welcome Aboard. This is the place to find out about the Chadwick Branch and Chris has pointed you in the right direction.
Historian Tim Ritter has researched this line and made power point presentations to various organizations including the Christian County Historical Society at the museum in Ozark.
