Hi Joe, Wish you had let me know you were coming! I’d bet they had been sent to Ash Grove with cement. I have not seen much grain action at the port. I know things have been pretty quiet since the floods and barge removal down at Webber’s Falls. It’s been a pretty dramatic year around here. I’ll be glad when things normalize again! How are thing coming together towards your new home? Well I hope!
Dale, we decided not to buy a mobile home from the dealer we working with, they wanted too much money for a down payment. Tomorrow we are going to look at a few other dealers. There are several on E. Admiral Blvd near the traffic circle and just east of there. If nothing pans out we are going to stay in our two bedroom apartment, we like our neighbors and the apartment is okay just small, about 950 sqft. Joe
How you doing Dale? Any recent work to the port (your version)? Has the port (real one) gotten back to normal since the flooding? Seems I read somewhere the traffic is down a bit. But that is all over, traffic being down that is..
Dale, thank you, we haven't been to Catoosa yet. Do you know where a mobile home dealer is in Catoosa? I can google it if I need to. Joe
Hi Tom, I actually answered your question over on TrainBoard.com. Sorry! I got my boards mixed up! I have not been able to spend a lot of time on the layout this summer except in starts and stops. I did extend the passing track on the east side of the layout. It will now hold a complete train of 10 cars. It is now the interchange track for SKOL. In doing so, I took out the Vertigris River bridge. But I needed the track even more for operations. I have started the work to paint Locomotive #555 in the Port of Catoosa livery. I’ll post the pictures here as well. Now that fall is here, I can start getting more things done again. I am hosting another meet operations session in March and that will get me motivated to do more work! As near as I can tell, movement into the port still seems slow. I have not seen SKOL in there in a while. I did notice this evening that BNSF had a string of grain hoppers on their interchange tracks. Maybe things are going to pick back up. That’s all for now. I will post the pictures next. Thanks, Dale
Joe, I am not aware of any dealers in Catoosa, however when the club was searching for a home we did look at some property over there. The prices did not seem too bad. If you are thinking of buying, you might consider Catoosa. Thanks, Dale
Dale, thank you, we will give it a try tomorrow. I googled mobile home dealer in Catoosa and found one on E. Admiral south of town. Will let you know what we find. Joe
I was looking at pictures of different things having to do with the port and ran across this interesting site. waltersrail.com He has a whole page devoted to the Frisco in Oklahoma told with pictures. This may be old news, but new to me. There are a lot of photos of different places and railroads on the site. Just scroll down and look for the Frisco in Oklahoma section/link. Thanks, Dale
Thank you for posting up the link Keith! I had a lot of fun putting that together. There are some fun things happening in Tulsa this year. I hope everyone can attend. Take care folks! Dale
Excellent. I see Dale's layout is on the tour and operation session schedule for the (multi-region) NMRA meeting next October (2021). I hope things are better and to make it up to see it, Dale.
Where is this event to take place? Hitting the NMRA website doesn't readily list it, only shows the that the "Rails By The Bay" July 2021 Convention has already been cancelled. Andre
It will be in Tulsa. I was helping to proofread the web site last night. Not sure that it has gone live just yet. There is a link to the site in: https://archive.org/details/marker_lamp_fall_20/page/n11/mode/2up If you look for the preview of Dale's Port of Catoosa.
I am really excited to be a part of this. There are some really great layouts on tap for tours and Operations Sessions. The clinics are going to be great as well. It will be quite an exciting weekend. Thanks! Dale
