I have a few Frisco "all aboard" magazines that I would like to donate to a museum or member of this forum. Please recommend a museum, my first preference for donating. December-January 1980 February-March 1980 August-September 1980 BN Springfield Region all aboard: April-May 1981 June-July 1981 All are in "Good" condition.
Thank you Joe. Yes ORM would be willing and happy to have them, they would have company in the others that we have.
This is one of many we have and I read them at my leisure as there is a wealth of info and photos within them.
Thanks for the responses so far. I guess I was hoping for a museum or historical entity that would be able to host these on a web site. I realize that is a bit more of an undertaking to have these magazines scanned. Maybe I should talk to the Greene County library in Springfield, Missouri? Or, perhaps on this site, in the "Frisco Archive" section? (I would be willing to try to scan my magazines to pdf file format).
Stacy, please scan the magazines for the Archives before you find a home for them so we can all enjoy your treasure. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!!! Joe
I will give it a try! Can someone recommend a location in the Archives for them? And I just want to point out that these "allaboard" issues were published by the Frisco or BN under the direction of the Manager, Employee Relations and Publications or the Assistant to Assistant Vice-President Public Relations (Bill Joplin in both positions).
There is a sub-forum for the All Aboard magazines: http://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/all-aboard-newsletters-from-the-frisco-museum.1628/
Here is my first test scan. It is the first 11 pages of a 20 page issue. The current size of the file is 29 mb. I do not know how to get the file to your server or the Archives section of this website. If the file is too large, please recommend what to do. Each page was scanned at 300 dpi. December-January 1980 (This file is on my Google Drive account) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1noNnHWjqtI3qxkRMamFo31otegGqjhMm
Looks good to me. Clear. I enjoy seeing these publications. Thanks for taking the time to post them up.
Well the ORM is scanning and digitizing magazines and such. Not sure that they would ever be available on the website versus just in the museum digital archives for reference. There are many (thousands from what i have seen) to be scanned which is going to be a monumental effort if they can or will ever get to it and get it done. So elsewhere that would make them available would be a better home for them in this case.
Did anything ever progress around getting more of the Frisco All Aboard Employee Magazines scanned such as the ones mentioned at the start of this thread from the 1970s? I see the Springfield Green County District Library has scanned Frisco Employee Magazines from 1902 to 1935: https://thelibrary.org/lochist/frisco/magazines/magazines.cfm but I haven't seen anything more recent from them or any other source.
