Look at eBay listing 230873019970, a nice slide pic of SLSF 1200, the class unit of the Frisco w/v caboose fleet, renumbered from its original SLSF 200 number. What kind of truck is this puppy sitting on? Don't know if I've seen this truck before. Ken ps - Sure enough, this truck is on several other pics of 1200 I have. But, not on its new delivery pic as SLSF 200, which had the standard truck found on this series of Frisco caboose (don't know what its name is). This different truck must have been some Frisco experiment of a different type after 200/1200 was in service. Gotta do some research!
Ken That is a screaming strange if not kinda weird looking truck its riding on.. Don't remember seeing those anywhere. Tom Holley
I believe that those are Rockwell LMF trucks. The Haywire used them on its stainless steel baywindow cabooses.
Yep, Rockwell High Speed trucks. On Overland's site, they show the same caboose (different date/angle/etc) and a picture in a collection from some guy named Rick ;-)
Yep, sounds correct. I see on the net that it is indeed a Rockwell Hi-Speed truck, and that the KCS also used them. Overland makes them in HO scale. I have several pics of SLSF 1200 (not as SLSF 200) with those trucks underneath. Never noticed that until I saw the pic on eBay today. Ya learn something every day! Sort of reminds me of the Alco Blunt diesel switcher truck in appearance. Ken
