Morning Group! I am in the last stages of completing my model of unit #2000, the Texas Special. Having seen some posts about how to model the siding on these units, I conducted a fairly extensive search and came up with what sure looks good to me. I used Plastruct #91510 which is N-scale corrugated siding painted silver. I cut the pieces to fit the Hobbytown E7 shell I used.
Neat idea - how did it work out? Please post some pics if you have a chance. I have always wanted to do an E7 in the Meteor scheme - SLSF 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005. I'd probably pick 2005 as it seems to have been photographed a lot. I have had some Train Station Products corregated siding for years that is pretty thin, but have not yet had the guts to try to hang it on an E7. The only undec E7 I have currently is an old Model Power unit. Hmmm. Ken
That's exactly what I am going to cut my teeth on here pretty soon. If I goof up an old Model Power, who cares? As opposed to butchering a Broadway or Proto 2000 model. If the MP works out nice, I have good experience for upgrading
John - Agree! I just might pull the MP E7 out and give it a go soon. I have modified the MP drive so it runs fairly well, and have already changed out the pilot to reflect what the Frisco units carried. Though it is yet unpainted, and has no corregations hanging on it, it does look like a decent E7! I don't have any Broadway or Walthers new release E7's to compare it to, but the MP unit does look as good as the original P2K units - which have received a ton of rath from the "experts" because of the nose. I do have two GM&O P2K E7's, and they look pretty good to me! In fact, they are beautiful. Ken
