    Brad,

    I assume you went to the Depots and Stations category on this website and looked up St. James, MO.

    I had ambitions to model this depot myself. However, sometimes life as always, takes up the other free time that you think you were going to have. I have not gotten around to it as they say.

    As far as windows and doors sizes, based on the photographs available on this website, the windows are double hung pane glass. Now these are my assumptions.

    Assume the panes are 10" in width x 3 panes wide, that equals 30".
    Height = each asbestos shingle is 12" x 7", that equals 84". Standard window then is 30" x 84".
    Agent operator bay side panel window 12" x 84" high.

    Personnel doors = I would make them 36" wide x 84" high.
    Freight room doors = 6' or 8' wide x 84" high.

    Height of structure = 18' - 20' tall.

    Hope these dimensions help!

    John

    Does anybody know what color the interior walls were painted?

    Were the floors a dark pine, or light and vibrant?

    So it has been a year, and I took an unconventional way to modeling the depot.

    I modeled it in LEGO blocks. After seeing how well my 4-8-2 SLSF 1501 is turning out, I decided to do the St. James depot next.

    I tried to model it how it would have looked in the 1930s with the dark gray siding. I decided not to do the roof green, as there is not any official LEGO color that matches it.

    It is not prototypically accurate, but I am proud of how it turned out. I should have it built in the next two to three months.

    It also won an award for the "Brick Train Awards: Best American Structure" and you can read an article about the model from the judges perspective here.

    It may take some scrolling to finally reach it.
