Found this not long ago, in a tiny 2 3/4 by 4 5/8 print.
Southwest Ave in Kansas City ready to back down to the Union Station. 616 contact print, probably from a Wes Krambeck negative. Nice shot,
2 1/2 by 4 1/4 without border? So, probably Kodak 116 format?
Yes, 116/616 was popular for railroad photography. Some good photographers moved from 616 to 122 (Postcard) or 4x5.
My old man, who sidelined as a freelance writer and photographer, used a Mamiya C-3 in 2 1/4 x 3 1/4, after his Speed Graphic finally broke down. Then we went 35mm.
