Ranma, One of two Frisco cars in Jenks, OK was torn down today. Read about this in this thread, Frisco passenger cars in Jenks, OK almost saved. Brian Waller
Ranma, I am wondering if the two Frisco cars are still there or have they been cut up?? I was just wondering. Brian Waller
Ranma, Thanks for the updates. I will try my hardest to save these rail cars. Of course like you said "There is not much that can be done in a short notice". But I will try. Brian Waller
Hi Brian, There is not much that can be done on such short notice. I have no ideal on how to move such large heavy rail cars. While I am not poor am not rich and did not receive encouragement or offers of help from the Wrecker or City. Retrieving the cars is only the first step; there is a lot of corrosion on these cars and one has been wrecked. It has heavy structural damage as well as heavy corrosion. There is evidence of dissimilar metal corrosion from either shoddy design or repairs. These cars need a lot of attention and even with repair are unlikely to ever become roadworthy. My friend one has to pick their fights carefully. These cars have gone past the point of no return and are ready to be recycled. Perhaps they might come back as a new train set. kind regards Ranma
Ranma, I would like to get ahold of the tracks and ties so I can use them to put the cars on when I get them to Eureka Springs, Ark. I am going to act quickly to save them. I need to find someone to help me moved them. Brian Waller
They seem determined to scrap them, suppose 160,000 lbs of scrap. My last conversation with them was not very encouraging. They were just being polite with me. There are other cars to be saved. These are in very bad shape.
Thanks Ranma I will try to act quickly. I am trying to get ahold of someone to help me moved them. I was wondering Can I get the tracks and ties the Cars are sitting on?? Brian Waller
They are still there as of tonight. There appears to be no sign of removing them. You need to act quickly. Ranma
Ranma, Please check, If the cars are still there I will save them. If not then I will need to know where they are. I will save them where ever they are. Brian Waller
Ranma, Are the Cars still there?? I am just wondering have you talk to them yet. Because I am still willing to save them. Brian Waller
Hi Brian, Sorry for the posting, guess 30 years of government service has left me suspicious. Afraid there is nothing I can do in the time available. If there were time might be able to do something. I do not think they will last the week. Guess it must be fate. Sincerely Ranma
Thanks Ranma for telling me a little more information about these cars. I would like to see your pictures when you do post them. "Who will pay to move them" you asked. Well, My Railroad Museum will going to need some help in moving them to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. So can you help?? Brian Waller President of The Eureka Springs & North Arkansas Railroad Historical & Restoration Society & Railroad Museum.
Well they are in rough condition lacking in most of the equipment. Once I move my pictures from my phone to computer will post them. 762 the Chair car has been in an accident of some sort, both of the cars have no windows and a lot of rust. Both are missing a lot of parts. I will give them a call tomorrow, ah who will pay to move them? It would be the same effort as moving a mobile home. Ranma
Ranma, my Railroad Museum is located near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Can you tell me any more information on or about these Frisco heavyweights cars? I need all the information I can get. I am wondering if they are willing to donate or give these cars to my Railroad Museum?? Can you ask them if you can?? Please send me a Private Message for the information on these cars. I will keep you inform. Brian Waller
Is your Museum far from Tulsa? I wonder how they could be moved. They seem a bit long for truck and it would take some doing to make them roadworthy. Let me know if I can help. Ranma
