I know this is not strictly Frisco, but I thought I would ask anyway. I saw this on the MB Klein web site, but I can't find info else where. Its made by Scale Trains. Nothing on their web site. https://www.modeltrainstuff.com/sca...r-burlington-northern-santa-fe-frisco-486742/
Thank you for posting Jeff. Close enough, we can always use another N scale car with the Frisco coonskin on the side. Is it a sixty foot? Joe
Its 58' over the coupler centers. So I guess you would round that up to 60. The thing is though that Scale Trains has nothing on their web site about this model and MB Klein lists it as being out of stock. So I am not sure on the validity of this one. Also, it is the same road number as the Intermountain version of this same hopper.
BNSF painted a few hoppers with predecessor road logos 5 years ( give or take a little ) ago. This included 3 ( I think ) with coonskins. That is what these cars are modeled after.
Thanks for the info. I kind of figured that. What I was looking for was to see if this model actually existed. I ended up finding hiding on the Scale Trains web site.
https://www.scaletrains.com/product...vered-hopper-bnsf?_pos=2&_sid=787951e4e&_ss=r Actually, ScaleTrains' web site is not very well presented. It took some looking to find it, even with putting Frisco in the search engine.
I finally found it after digging a little. It looks like we will have 3 different companies making this model in the same road number. Microtrains - NSC BNSF Legacy Series Intermountain - BNSF Heritage Series ScaleTrains Does anyone know how many hoppers BNSF put the Frisco herald on?
This is just a guess, if three manufacturers with the same road number there is a possibility of only one railcar that was painted this way. Joe
Three prototype covered hoppers were painted with this scheme: 480539, 483110, & 486742. BNSF painted 3 cars each with logos of various predecessor railroads in order to preserve the copyright on them. Rich
From the little research I did, it looks like BNSF did a total of 27 Heritage Hoppers, of which 3 were Frisco.
The Intermountain ones are delayed. I have the one from Microtrains (ordered through the NSC) and I just ordered the one from Scale Trains.
