Another non Frisco project this week. But thats the way it goes sometimes. This is one I am working on for the JCs riptrack online weathering contest. Its a model I had on the list for a long time but had not gotten motivated to start on. So at last here is the start. Its getting closer another week or two it should be done. The 1:1 was stored dead in Hillsdale ,Michigan near where I grew up for several years. I was lucky and found quite a few pics online. Sadly it revealed the total death of this engine. Anyway, heres the proto followed by my model to date. I lightly air erased the large logos. Then hand painted a light blue wash over all the factory dark blue paint. The weathering is acrylics with oils over them, The body mostly stock except a few minor details. Thanks for lookin, Steve
This was my project for the last few days. I have been looking for a more user friendly video editing programs, and I have given kdenlive a try. Trust me, if I can use it ANYbody can, as I am quite PC challenged. On June 6th a friend and I decided we needed to run some trains, This video is a few clips I put together. and added some sound. I hope you like it.
Great stuff as always Tom! I always enjoy your videos. Seeing so much head end power and such long trains never ceases to amaze me. Your new wide cab GP 60 looks great in action. Thanks for making the video and sharing.
Steve: Your latest project looks like the perfect match for you. You'll lap that up like a kitten laps warm milk! Tom: LONG trains with LOTS of power. You must have a huge layout. Nice work on the video.
Thanks Andre. Not everybody’s taste in model subject but I like the long in the tooth look. Ha To call Toms layout huge might actually be an understatement. Lol
Must be summertime and everyone busy! I know we are so model projects slow down. I have a few from the last couple weeks. My GP30 is getting close. Also a couple cars I finished for my regular customer. Thanks for lookin, Steve
Great stuff Steve! Hopefully will catch you in St Louis at the end of the month. I have been working on home repairs after some plumbing problems, so not much time for Frisco modeling. Maybe something next week...have some vacation scheduled. -Bob T.
Hey All, Not Wednesday, but had some time today. I mentioned above, not too much model railroad time recently due to some home repairs. We did manage to break away for the 4th of July to one of our favorite spots...Marble Falls Texas. They have a nice park along the constant-level Lake Marble Falls (just down-river from Lake L.B.J.). The town businesses provide the fireworks and there is live music.... Once home, I finished up the build for a new rolling workbench. In the near-term this is for building some new cabinets and other home projects. In the long-term, a work table alongside the layout. I will use it during the build of new sections/modules. The bench has a 32-inch solid-door top (one with a few wham-o's from McCoy's lumber here in S. Texas). The top can be flipped/removed once it becomes beat up. The lower shelf is for your clamps and tools as you are working. I put a bit of wood-oil sealer on it today and I think turned out OK. It is small enough that I can wheel it behind one of the cars when they are in the garage. That was the big project for the week. The small project for the week was the painting of some snapping turtles for the Brush Creek Diorama. These are from MiniPrints in Canada. They took so long to arrive, that I forgot that I had ordered them. They look mean as can be and tough as nails. Take care All, If things work out, I will try to catch a few of you at the St. Louis RPM... -Bob T.
Thanks Jim! I was getting tired of the hollow-core doors over saw horses. Not the best for squaring up cabinets.
A little late to the party on this one. Here we have the Hindsight Industrial Rail System, with their passenger/party train out for a fourth of July trip around the outfit. Below grilling some brats n burgers. And of course the band and revelers. Going past the RIP's headed towards the tower. Stay tuned. This is gonna be a challenge for the little FP 1/3 on the grade.
