Workshop Wednesday

Thanks Tom. I have been slowly working my way around the layout and am getting close to Clinton. This is a must-have building. Next up is the Clinton depot, whenever I can convince someone to make the transite shingle siding. And then the roundhouse with machine shop. But then. I'll being building other stuff along the way as well.

 

Great stuff, guys! Great structure @Oldguy ! Would love to see the layout progress.

I have been continuing some diorama detailing as well as discovering that I numbered the wrong dome on one of these ten-wheelers. A corrective project for this week, I guess.

@klrwhizkid , I hear that a replacement Tsunami 2 is coming for the "Econami" decoders shipped with these Bachmann ten-wheelers. Have you seen any info? Speaker upgrade possible?

Not Wednesday of course but I finished these up last week for my usual customer. Atlas units. He wanted mild so these are just faded then a little grime. Show as pretty new units that way. In the before and after you can see how even a little fade takes the toyish look out of the paint.

Watching with interest. I have four of the Bachman New Tooling 4-4-0's if it would fit those, too.

This will give you an idea of how the plant and load out building will be oriented. Yes, I will have a courtyard between the two buildings.

I now need to build a connecting building between the two. Basically for forklift travel between the two.

It does, but it has been greatly modified and looks more like the ubiquitous metal building that one sees everywhere.

 

You know what Bob? That's just water under the bridge.....



Pouring some muddy water for the 18" x 60” diorama. Maybe another layer that is a bit more clear after this one dries....

Been patiently waiting for the resin on my Brush Creek diorama to dry. Finally, not too bad today and have been working on a few shots.

Those are great scenes Bob. I like how many colors you have in the scenery.

 

Installed Railpro locomotive module in Athearn Genesis GP7 #612. Successfully consisted it with Atlas GP38-2 #476. Thanks Keith R. for the wiring convention confirmation. (For the record the headlights connect to the wires from 9-pin vs the 6-pin connector on the GP7 unit.)

Getting everything to fit in the tight confines of the GP7 narrow hood is a challenge with all the wires. Knocked a few parts off the shell, but they'll go back on. No permanent damage.

 

Had to reset my Railpro Handheld Control (HC-2) unit and update it's software, but finally got the 567 prime mover sound files downloaded to the HC-2 and loaded onto #612's locomotive module.

Future installs should be a little easier after this, now that I have a better handle on what I'm doing. (Keen eyes will note a few details were knocked off, but they will be reattached.)

 

All that is left is some weathering and scenery. Those will get done once planted.

 

here is a project I’m finishing up. A friend of ours just graduated high school. He is a model railroader and rail photographer. His last name is Rausch and they have a large family farm. I made this up from an undecorated Intermountain car.
