Very nice layout...I like the bridges, all the great scenery and I especially like the depot in the first photo! Dale Rush Carthage, MO
Not only is there a Frisco layout in Valley Park, MO... but there is an EXCELLENT Frisco layout in Valley Park, MO!!! Thanks a bunch for sharing pics of your nice layout!! Andre
John - I'm curious. Your excellent layout absolutely screams Frisco Eastern Division at the very first glance. Very well done! Where did you get your background - are you from a Frisco family, etc? How did you get hooked on the Frisco? I really like the Ozark hills in the backdrops. The Webster depot is really nice - where did you get the plans? Anybody who includes Scullin Steel in a layout is my kind of guy! I need to get you involved in my attempt to get the NMOT to take better care of 0-6-0 SLSF 3695, ex Scullin Steel 95, before she rusts away. Ken
No doubt lots of great work. Makes me wish fo more space. I am on the ground floor now, but only 9 by 9. Thanks for the photos. We will want to know more about the fine modeling you have done. William Jackson
I added a few more. I want to thank everyone for the compliments, and a special Thank you to Tom Holley for tutoring on how to submit pictures
Hi John Looks like you have it figured out my friend! John and I ran across one another maybe a couple months ago, when he was looking for a transfer caboose, and I happened to have one. One email led to another, and next thing I was looking at pictures of a world class model RR.. It also, is great that so many of you see specific locations on the Frisco, that is indeed a major accomplishment in itself. The scenery, backdrops, bridges and all are amazing, and it is "high time" he is given his due, for his work and craft. Have fun John, very well deserved indeed. Tom Holley
Ken, the background photos are from a company called SceniKing, they are on the website. The Webster station is scratchbuilt using commercial windows and doors, there were no plans, I took measurements from the structure. My interest in Frisco stems from my childhood days hanging out with my friend also named John at the Macklind Ave. road crossing where MoPac and Frisco have parallel main line and the Lindenwood yards. Ironically, John models MoPac 2 rail O scale and I model Frisco!
Yeah, I need to get out of my cave. I keep waiting for you to re-backdate your layout to F-units. Well, if you show up in the driveway, it's often tough to argue against a fait accompli.
John, here's some more praise for the work you've done. I'd sure like to have a bridge that folks would recognize on my layout. I'd love to be there when Rick and Chris show up to operate, too. Will you be on the layout tour for the regional NMRA convention this summer, or are you still undiscovered by that group too?
Okay, your layout is as good s anything that I have seen from Bill Barnaby, et al. Any reason why it hasn't been covered in any magazine???
John, awsome job on the layout, looks great! If you ever an open house let me know I would love to see it in person.
I can say this evening that after seeing John's work first hand, the pictures don't completely do justice to his beautiful modeling. He has done a very nice job and is looking into the possibility of setting up operations. I had a very enjoyable visit with another example of why I feel that Frisco Folk are the finest on earth. Thanks, John!
This is what I want my layout to look like some day. Truly inspiring. I believe I seen the Valley Park junction in one of the pics. It's nice seeing a familiar location in 1/87 scale. Pat Moreland, Union Mo.
There are a lot of familiar locations on John's layout, and he has represented them well. From east of Lindenwood, street overpasses, grade crossings, River Des Peres, Scullin Steel, the ammunition plant, Webster Groves depot, the Meramec Bridge and the wye, continuing west climbing Dixon Hill, one can quickly identify the key spots on John's layout.
